LA based portrait, fashion, and lifestyle Photographer Andi Elloway has crafted an aesthetic that highlights the streamline shapes of her subjects while giving a panache to the gravel of the surrounding asphalt. Favoring a natural approach in her outdoor shoots and equipped with a kaleidoscopic container of crystal prisms, gels, and glass she captures talents strewn in natural light or caught in the speedy gestures of action. In the studio she excels producing work with subtle uses of light drags and phenomenal postproduction editing, highlighting her innate abilities with color and showcasing a bold versatility that pops with a dark splendor, painting an image of dimension and depth.
Brought up in the agriculturally rich Redlands, CA surrounded by the stark dichotomy of god-fearing Christians and local devil worshipers, her youth as a rebellious skater would provide the foundations which she sauntered around the world in her adulthood enriching herself with hedonistic nights from LA to Paris. The allure of knives, fire, and BDSM juxtaposed with the Hip Hop scenes of NY have been a guiding narrative showcasing her intersecting style where the streets meets goth and grunge while empathically linking with the subjects and driving out their innate personage.
Elloway's education was honed at the Art Institute, where she graduated with a BS in Graphic Design. She would go on to sharpen her craft with photo and production apprenticeships with Kenneth Cappello and Jamie Mcphee. Her style has been deeply informed by the transgressive works of the greats Nobuyoshi Araki, Steven Klein, and Wolfgang Tillmans as well as the photo surrealist grandeur of Guy Bourdin, Slim Aarons, and Daido Moriyama.
Andi has worked with Adidas, Alyx Studio, Complex, Flaunt Magazine, Good American, i-D Magazine, The New York Times, Nike, Off-White, Puma, and Purple Magazine to name a few.
